The twenty-two cards of the "Major Arcana" represent archetypes rather than everyday events and situations. Because of this they are usually regarded as more spiritual and profound than the Minors, as they deal with the "big" life issues and decisions.
The Majors show us many images, ideas, vices and virtues that we are familiar with from the art of the Medieval and Rennaissance. Yet these very old concepts and representions touch us as deeply today as ever. Here we see life played out and writ large, as we are asked to consider issues of morality, priorities, identity - and good and evil.
